The Algerian Information Point kick-off event was hosted by CDER (Centre de Developpement des Energies Renouvelables) and attracted a large gathering of national R&D players and was also supported by the Euromedanet2 partners from Greece, France, Italy and Spain, and a number of senior Algerian officials: The Algerian Minister for Scientific Research gave the inaugural speech, the Minister for foreign affairs gave an overview of Algerias cooperation with the EU and European institutions, and the director of CDER gave a summary of Algerias past and present Cooperation with the EU in R&D. The event included a presentation of the Algerian InPs goals and activities by Mr. Salim Kehal, as well as a demonstration of the InP website by Mr. Abdelkrim Chenak.
The kick-off event was followed by an afternoon workshop which gave the audience the opportunity to hear and discuss aspects of FP6 participation in greater detail, such as the evaluation criteria. The latest developments towards the next Framework Programme, FP7, were also presented. The workshop included lengthy discussions about the sustainability of EU-MED R&D cooperation.
